The Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus has successfully vaccinated 100 doctors and nurses against COVID-19 while utilizing a blockchain-based mobile app for certification. This certification process was facilitated through the E-HCert app, which is built on the VeChainThor blockchain. The first vaccine was administered on January 4th.

The hospital views this development as a significant step toward returning to normalcy and advancing the digital transformation of the healthcare industry, thanks to the capabilities of the VeChainThor blockchain.

Notably, the E-HCert app was initially deployed in June 2020 to certify COVID-19 test results for over 8,000 individuals entering Cyprus, as stated by the Mediterranean Hospital.

Dimitris Neocleous, the ecosystem manager at VeChain in Limassol, emphasized the importance of using VeChainThor and the E-HCert app as a single, immutable source of truth during a time when various countries were developing their own apps. This approach brings value, versatility, and convenience to the process of returning to normalcy.

The E-HCert app was collaboratively developed by VeChain and I-Dante specifically for the Mediterranean Hospital in May. This successful implementation is now poised to be adopted by the Aretaeio Hospital in Nicosia, as reported by the Cyprus Mail.
